ASID State Bill Update 1/08 – 2/08

Alabama:
SB 163—Sunset law review for interior design practice law. Introduced Feb. 5, referred to Committee on Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability. Passed committee Feb. 6. Sponsored by Sen. Larry Dixon.

Connecticut:
HB 5774—An act to require the registration of residential interior decorators. Introduced Feb. 27, referred to General Law Committee. Sponsored by General Law Committee.

Hawaii:
HCR 89—Requesting the auditor to conduct a sunrise review of licensure of interior designers. Introduced Feb. 21. Sponsored by Rep. Sylvia Luke.

Illinois:
HB 4845—Amends the Interior Design Title Act. Changes the title of licensees under the Act from "interior designer" to "registered interior designer" and from "residential interior designer" to "registered residential interior designer" throughout the Act. Removes grandfathering provisions. Introduced Feb. 8, referred to Rules Committee. Referred to Registration and Regulation Committee Feb. 22. Sponsored by Rep. Angelo Saviano.

Maryland:
HB 1247—An act establishing that the ability to place mechanic's lien includes certified interior design services. Introduced Feb. 8, referred to Committee on Environmental Matters. Sponsored by Delegate Thomas Hucker.
